Taiwan Considers Establishing a National Bitcoin Reserve Fund

Zhuo Rongtai, the Premier of Taiwan, stated that the government is preparing a report to assess the total amount of Bitcoin (BTC) confiscated by domestic agencies in order to evaluate the possibility of establishing a national Bitcoin reserve fund. The report is expected to be completed within this year.

Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise Asset Management, believes that 2026 will be the true bull year for the cryptocurrency market, supported by major factors such as institutional investment, regulatory progress, and the expanding trend of asset tokenization. Stablecoin tokenization and next-generation DeFi will be important drivers.

Strategy has made a new purchase of more than 8,178 BTC worth around 835 million US dollars. This purchase is larger than its acquisitions in October and early November, which were only around 400 to 500 BTC per week. The company now holds a total of 649,870 BTC, the largest amount in the world among publicly listed companies.

Glassnode analyzed that long-term Bitcoin holders have increased their selling from 12,000 BTC per day in July to 26,000 BTC per day currently, indicating normal profit-taking behavior in the market cycle rather than sudden dumping.

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the Ethereum network, said that DeFi is becoming a practical new savings tool after years of technological development and security improvements. Users are beginning to see DeFi as a financial instrument that allows them to avoid traditional monetary systems.

The Spot XRP ETF was launched for the first time under the name Canary Capital XRP (XRPC) and has become one of the hottest crypto ETFs of the year, with trading volumes exceeding market expectations. JPMorgan estimates that the XRP ETF could attract up to 8 billion US dollars and that the price could reach 5 US dollars by the end of this year.
