Trump Media Eyes Bitcoin: $2.5B Fundraising and ETF Ambitions

Trump Media and Technology Group, the parent company of current President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, plans to raise $2.5 billion to purchase Bitcoin (BTC) for its corporate reserves. The fundraising will include a $1.5 billion equity offering and the issuance of $1 billion in zero-interest convertible debt.

Truth Social has also filed to launch a Bitcoin ETF via NYSE Arca, a subsidiary of the New York Stock Exchange. Foris DAX Trust Company, LLC will serve as the fund’s custodian.

Bilal Bin Saqib, Chairman of Pakistan’s National Cryptocurrency Council, has announced plans to establish a National Bitcoin Strategic Reserve—taking inspiration from recent moves by the U.S. government. This marks a major shift from Pakistan’s previously cautious stance on Bitcoin.

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, revealed that the company now holds over 100,000 BTC (worth roughly $7 billion), along with more than 50 tons of gold. These holdings are part of Tether’s strategy to further strengthen the asset reserves backing USDT.

The World Foundation, the organization behind Worldcoin (WLD), has raised $135 million through token sales to leading investors including Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Bain Capital Crypto. The new funding will be used to scale the Worldcoin network, with a special focus on the U.S. and other global regions.

Investment Trends

Although the Bitcoin Conference 2025 did not deliver updates on the U.S. adding Bitcoin to its strategic reserves, positive developments—such as Pakistan’s national Bitcoin reserve and continued backing from key thought leaders—are supporting market sentiment.

Ongoing trade policy negotiations between the U.S. and China are still introducing volatility to global markets. However, Bitcoin remains resilient and may benefit regardless of outcomes, as it often rallies alongside equities while acting as a portfolio hedge.

Despite significant outflows from Bitcoin ETFs last week, the broader price trend remains intact. This recent pullback could present a buying opportunity, with a positive outlook for Q2.

A key event to watch this week is the U.S. Non-Farm Payroll report on Friday, June 6, 2025. The market expects 130,000 new jobs (down from 177,000 last month), with the unemployment rate likely steady at 4.2%. These figures could influence next week’s FOMC meeting. While the market expects rates to remain unchanged, any sign of a more dovish Fed could further boost sentiment.
